The most comforting dinner out there! If you want to make a Shepards Pie, simply swap your mince to lamb and it is the same thing! This is also very good € wise if you are cooking for a big family and will be an ideal home from school dinner in the colder months!
Ingredients:
500g of Irish 5% Fat Beef Steak Mince
2 x onions diced
4 x cloves garlic
100g carrot diced
4 x sticks celery chopped small
One pack of savoury mince mix ( or 50g gravy granules)
¾ pint of hot water to mix the packet
Sea salt & black pepper
6 x mushrooms
100g frozen peas
500g Maris Piper potatoes boiled and mashed
50ml light milk
50g light butter
1 x egg (just mix this)
Method:
1. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius
2. Grate your garlic into your mince and season now.
3. Heat a large frying pan or wok.
4. Add in your mince and onions and break up the mince.
5. Fry gently until all pieces are brown.
6. Add in your carrots, mushrooms, peas and celery.
7. Add in your gravy/packet mixture.
8. In a bowl mash your spuds well.
9. Add in your milk and butter.
10. Place your mince on the bottom of a tray.
11. Smooth the mash on top.
12. Brush with your egg wash.
13. Score with your fork and create a chimney in the middle for the steam to come out.
14. Cook for 40 minutes uncovered and enjoy!
